Confirm the patient and examination meet the relevant commissioning and clinical referral criteria.

Use the approved route
Use the applicable NHS e-RS service and local commissioning instructions. Do not assume ICE is enabled.

Referral and booking
Direct Medicare processes referrals through the agreed workflow; clinic availability is subject to approved arrangements.

Reporting
Clinical reports are returned through the approved reporting pathway; exact local arrangements must be validated.
